What's cool is that ISPF is designed so that you can add your own application to run in the ISPF environment. ISPF lets you create your own dialogs. For example, you might have a personnel application for your HR department. Perhaps you would have a screen (we say "panel" in ISPF) that looks something like this:
Typically, we talk about "ISPF" when we are using the IBM-supplied applications, like the editor, but we say "Dialog Manager" when we are using ISPF facilities to run our own applications.
ISPF lets you create your own panel definitions such as menus (see above) or data entry panels for gathering information (see below):
