DB2 and XML - Course Objectives

On successful completion of this course, the student, with the aid of the appropriate reference materials, should be able to:

1. Understand how XML data is stored in DB2
2. Retrieve and modify XML data using the XML-related built-in functions in DB2
3. Access and update XML data in application programs
4. Understand XPath expressions and how they can be used to access XML data in DB2
5. Define XML indexes that facilitate data retrieval
6. Understand how XML columns interact with DB2 utilities
7. Manipulate XML columns using the LOAD utility, the UNLOAD utility, and file reference variables
8. Understand and use XML schemas.
